Why line your chimney?

Chimney linings are not always required but they are often installed for various reasons. Generally they are fitted when the existing chimney is no longer fit for purpose. This is extremely common in pre 1950’s/60’s dwellings.

Appliances such as gas fires, stoves, open fires etc… produce hot emissions which over time erodes the mortar joints that stabilise the midfeathers. The midfeathers are the course of brickwork which separate each flue. If this occurs it is dangerous and potentially fatal, as the harmful gases may leak into the rooms above or neighbouring properties.

Chimney linings therefore are the only solution to ensure no leakage because the steel tube (liner) is sealed at the top of the chimney stack and the bottom of the chimney opening.

Wilson’s supply and fit chimney liners for all appliances, gas and multi fuel. We are a gas safe registered company. Our HETAS registration eliminates the necessity for building control to inspect the liner installation which is a costly and compulsory requirement by law.
